Saturday service at Lovett Library delayed

The Free Library of Philadelphia recently informed David T. Moore, president of the Friends of the Lovett Library, that it is delaying six-day service at Lovett Library and nine other neighborhood branches because of a delay in the hiring process.

"The Friends of Lovett Memorial Library are naturally quite disappointed that Saturday hours for Lovett and nine other neighborhood libraries will not be returning on Oct. 5,” Moore said. “We are assured that although the personnel process of testing, hiring and training is moving more slowly than planned, the money the city budget appropriated for the required additional staff is in hand, and the Free Library administration anticipates the program will be in place in November. We will certainly keep the Lovett community informed as we receive details."

Moore said the community ceremony and book sale planned to celebrate the return of Saturday hours on Oct. 5 has been canceled.
