Sophomore Madi Saltzman, a softball pitcher, second baseman, and outfielder at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, recently competed in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South (QDSS) on August 31 and September 1 at North Carolina’s Winthrop University. Athletes from more than 30 states and several Canadian provinces were able to showcase their abilities and receive instruction from college coaches. Players apply to this event as individuals (not as part of a team) and are selected according to criteria such as ability, potential, academics, coaches’ requests, and referrals.
As a result of her performance at QDSS, Saltzman has already been selected for the North American Select Team that will participate in Cup 2015 in Europe, making stops in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Paris. She plays club softball for Pegasus Fast Pitch, and this fall she is a starter for the SCH field hockey team.
