Crime Report: 5 thefts

The following crimes are from the week of August 18 to August 24, 2013.

Aug. 19. 8000 block Roanoke Street. Complainant states that between midnight and 7:30 a.m., an unknown person opened door to a 2013 Kia and went through glove compartment and pulled off panel that houses the fuses to alarm system. Alarm system did not go off. Reported at 12 a.m.

Aug. 19. 200 block E. Willow Grove Avenue. Complainant was walking and texting on his iPhone and dropped it. Black male picked up iPhone and ran off with it going towards Mermaid Lane. Taken was iPhone with orange case. Offender, dark skin, early 20's, with tear under eyes, numerous other tattoos on face and hands. Offender was wearing a red hoodie and black sweats, riding a BMX bike. Occurred at 5 p.m.

Aug. 21. 8800 block Germantown Avenue. Male was brought to Chestnut Hill Hospital in his silver Chevrolet Impala with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. Happened in an unknown location of Germantown.

Aug. 21. 200 block Northwestern Avenue. Complainant states she returned from walk to find scratch marks on her black Chevy Sonic and car broken into. Taken was a Capital One Card, Master Card and a PNC debit card.

Aug. 22. 200 block E. Mermaid Lane. Complainant called police after seeing unknown males attempting to take bicycle from inside courtyard complex area. Complainant stopped males, recovered bike and called police. Police arrived at Mermaid Lane and Ardleigh, one half block from complainant's house and observed a group of males (one on bike and three on feet) walking northbound on Ardleigh from Mermaid Lane. Two black males were stopped by officers in the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue and two others fled but were stopped in the 7500 block of Germantown Ave. Four black teenagers, one wearing a white T-shirt and one with a red shirt over black pants or shorts.

Aug. 24. Unit block Waterman Avenue. Complainant states that he was moving from 21 Waterman Avenue to the 8000 block of Crefeld Street. Complainant states that he last saw his property at 5 a.m. on Aug. 21, and he noticed something missing on Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.

Summary – Six crimes for week: one aggravated assault, four thefts and one theft from vehicle.
