Chestnut Hill Historical Society celebrates 20th century architecture

Nathaniel Kahn, Director, My Architect: A Son’s Journey[/caption] Film: My Architect: A Son’s Journey Thursday, May 30, 2013, 7:00 – 10 p.m. Award-winning writer-director Nathaniel Kahn will present My Architect: A Son’s Journey, his Oscar-nominated film about Louis Kahn. The film weaves together the biography of the elder Kahn, a tour of his major buildings, and his son’s search for his largely absent and always elusive father into an emotionally and visually compelling narrative. My Architect will be shown on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Woodmere Art Museum, 9201 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa 19118. Admission is free for CHHS members; non-member tickets are $15. On site ticket sales are prohibited at the Woodmere, day of the event purchases can be made at CHHS, 8708 Germantown Avenue.  
Fleer Residence, Montgomery & Bishop architects[/caption] House tour Saturday, June 1, 2013, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. A self-guided tour of five mid-century architectural gems including homes designed by Stonorov, Montgomery & Bishop, Nolen/Runyan and Ueland. The self-guided tour is $15 for CHHS members, $30 for non-members. Advanced reservations are advised or day of purchase at Elfant Wissahickon Realtors, 8039 Germantown Avenue. The 20th Century Chestnut Hill project is made possible through additional generous funding by E.B. Mahoney Builders, Matthew Millan Architects, Inc., McCoubrey Overholser Building Construction, Nolan Painting, Runyan & Associates Architects, and VSBA, LLC.
