On the weekend of Saturday/Sunday, March 9/10, The Stagecrafters, 8130 Germantown Ave., will bring to Chestnut Hill two readings of David Mamet's iconic play, “Speed the Plow,” presented “script in hand" on their auditorium stage. Directed by Yaga Brady and read by actors Paul McNair, Mike Gannon and Ana-Maria Arkan, this piece is a satirical look at movie industry executives in the pursuit of success.
It ran 280 performances on Broadway in 1988 and was revived in 2008 with extended runs in New York and London. Scheduled readings: March 9 at 8 p.m. and March 10 at 2 p.m. There will also be a “Talk-Back” Q & A session with actors and director following each performance. All are invited to stay and participate.
Admission is whatever one may wish to pay. No reservations are being taken. Just show up. The auditorium will be open 30 minutes before each performance. More information at www.thestagecrafters.org.
