Diners at Chestnut 7.

Chestnut Hill’s Restaurant Month this March is bigger than ever. Within less than a mile in quaint Chestnut Hill, many restaurants are offering a smorgasbord of promotions, deals and discounts all month.

Lunch and dinner specials are available in a variety of dining experiences from nationally ranked Mica to neighborhood favorites Tavern on the Hill and Campbell’s Place.

One of Philadelphia’s most beloved neighborhoods and named the Best Main Street Shopping Destination by Philadelphia Magazine, Chestnut Hill offers a distinctive dining experience along its main cobblestoned corridor. Bistros, pubs, fine dining, gourmet catering and casual eateries are tucked between fabulous boutiques and shops.

The neighborhood features American, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese and other cuisines. Enjoy a three-course dinner for just $29.95 at Heirloom, Cafette, Stella Sera, Iron Hill Brewery or Mica on Sundays through Thursdays.

Alan Richman, of GQ Magazine, which named Mica one of the “Ten Best New Restaurants in America,” said of Mica’s Chip Roman, “He’s creating complex dishes and doing it astoundingly well – Mica is about food.”

In Chestnut Hill during March it’s all about the food. Roller’s Restaurant at Flying Fish hosts “The Roller Classic Dinner Deal”: a four-course dinner for $22.95 plus a glass of wine for only $5. Treat your date to a romantic dinner for two at Chestnut Grill & Sidewalk Café for just $29.95. Share an appetizer, two entrees and one dessert, Sundays through Thursday.

At the Tavern on the Hill, every day in March, “Shamrock Suppers” ($15) and “Leprechaun Luncheons” ($10) serve a heaping platter of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. A three-course dinner featuring veal parmesan is available for $19.95 – this complements its “Nine after Nine” menu with late night suppers for $9 served after 9 p.m.

Many other Chestnut Hill restaurants, such as Chestnut 7, King’s Garden, Thai Kuu and CinCin, well regarded for its inventive Chinese and pan-Asian dishes with a refined French flair, are offering a three-course, $19.95 dinner.

Fabulous specials are available during lunchtime as well. Enjoy a cup of soup, half sandwich and non-alcoholic beverage at Chestnut Grill & Sidewalk Café for $7.95. McNally’s Tavern’s lunch special includes the sandwich of the day and cup of soup for $10.45.

At the Night Kitchen Bakery, lunch is as delicious as its cakes in the window. For $9.95 guests enjoy tea sandwiches like smoked salmon with cream cheese, with a shortbread cookie and one cup of tea or coffee. Thai Kuu Authentic Thai and Asian Cuisine, offers soup, salad or appetizer and entrée at lunch during March for $9.95 as well.

Who says you can’t get a free lunch anymore? During Restaurant Month in Chestnut Hill, you and your fellow diners can, courtesy of Valley Green Bank. A bank representative will visit one restaurant each week during the lunch hour and customers eating lunch then will have their meals paid for compliments of Valley Green Bank. Participating restaurants include McNally’s Tavern, Campbell’s Place, Cafette, Roller’s Expresso and The Night Kitchen Bakery.

Anytime of the day throughout the 31 days of March, families can enjoy a large pizza at Cosimo’s Pizza or a Triple Play: 3 Schmitters® – Philadelphia’s most famous sandwich – for $20, eat-in only at McNally’s Tavern. Like most of Chestnut Hill’s dining establishments, these offer family-friendly environments.

New to Restaurant Month this year is an opportunity for families, and all diners, to help others in the community. Participating restaurants will include a donation card for Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels (MOW) in customers’ bills during March. Diners are invited to buy a meal ($7) or a week of meals ($35) for a Meals on Wheels recipient. These individuals are generally homebound, ill or senior members of the community who receive two fresh meals each day, five days a week.

“While diners are enjoying a delicious meal in Chestnut Hill, we invite them to share the experience with those who can’t get out to celebrate Restaurant Month,” said Laurene Topping, MOW Board Member.

In honor of Restaurant Month, the 18 participating restaurants are collectively underwriting 18 weeks of meals for the Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels program.

“We are very proud this year that our restaurants are partnering with Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels to help raise funds for this very worthwhile organization,” said Peggy Miller, deputy director of the Chestnut Hill Business Association. “This is another example of local establishments lending a helping hand to a local charity, and it speaks to the generous nature of our Chestnut Hill businesses.”

This warm and friendly business community creates a wonderful environment for locals and visitors to enjoy Chestnut Hill’s amazing dining options. A complete listing of all participating restaurants, menus and directions are all available on www.chestnuthillpa.com. Be sure to treat your palette to Chestnut Hill during Restaurant Month.
