Big moves are in the works at the Chestnut Hill Hotel and its farmers market.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports this morning that Al Paris, Benjamin Bynum and Robert Bynum have finalized a deal to open Paris Bistro – a ’30s era French bistro equip with an upstairs bar and a jazz cafe – at the location of the former Melting Pot in the Chestnut Hill Hotel. According to Paris, who will be the chef, the bistro is set to open late spring. Paris is the chef owner of Heirloom, 8705 Germantown Ave., the former location of Rollers Market.
The Inquirer also reports that Jonathan’s Best is closing at the end of March. Jonathan’s Best is a gourmet shop that has been located at the side of the Chestnut Hill Hotel since the 1980s. Jonathan’s Best will not entirely disappear though. It currently has another location at the Reading Terminal Market, which will remain open. The Bynums will take that space, too, with Green Soul, a health-food cafe which is currently located in Ogontz.
