"Our nursing staff is outstanding!" said Dennis Koza, president and CEO of Cathedral Village, the retirement community in the Andorra section of Philadelphia.
He had just been notified that Bishop White Lodge, the Village’s skilled nursing facility center, has achieved a Five-Star Overall Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
This is the highest overall rating awarded and is based on four major components: registered nursing staffing, quality measures, overall staffing and health inspections.
"Quality care is what our residents expect and deserve – we have always set our sights on excellence," said Koza. "As we enter 2013 that excellence will be extended to include substantial renovations to the Bishop White Lodge infrastructure as well."
Koza explained that spa rooms, nursing stations, hallways and elevators will undergo major enhancements, with the goal of making the environment even more homelike and comfortable for the residents.
Cathedral Village also plans to open a new 24-bed short-term rehabilitation unit that will be made available to patients from the greater Philadelphia area who are seeking such services. This wing is expected to be open for operation in a few months.
Koza added that "Cathedral Village is excited about its plans for 2013 and welcomes the opportunity to provide first quality health services not only to our residents, but also to the greater community."
Cathedral Village is a nonprofit, non-denominational continuing care retirement community committed to quality and excellence in care and services. Located in the Andorra section of Philadelphia, it has been home to senior citizens since 1979.
