Sister Mary Helen Beirne (left), Head of school at Norwood Fontbonne Academy accompanied students to Chestnut Hill Hospital to deliver gift books. With her are (continuing from left) Shannon Craige, Liam Pié, Chloe Burns, Meredith Stitt, Georgia Powell, the hospital's Marilyn Dicicco, Langston Morrison and the hospital's Michael Hite.

Students from Norwood Fontbonne Academy brought dozens of donated books to Chestnut Hill Hospital from the school in a red wagon on Friday, Dec.14. The children and NFA staff collected donations during a book fair at the school that were used to purchase a gift in recognition of Chestnut Hill Hospital’s new emergency department, operating rooms and intensive care unit. The gift was a collection of books to help comfort Hospital patients and their families.

“The books are more than just another gift, but rather represent the shared mission of NFA and the hospital to serve our community,” said Sister Mary Helen Beirne, NFA’s Head of School.

“We are grateful for the donation of books that will benefit our patients and their families,” said Mike Hite, chief operating officer, Chestnut Hill Hospital. “I’m inspired by the spirit in which they were presented. It means a great deal to have a neighbor like Norwood-Fontbonne Academy who is supportive of the Hospital’s commitment to a healthy community. As community partners, NFA and CHH will continue to work together to enhance the lives of the families we serve.”
