Last weekend, Dan Weiss, Cheese Shop owner Dan Weiss had something happen to him that he never expected. His store's annual Toys for Tots drive – a drive sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps. That collects unwrapped toys for children – was interrupted when someone swiped the cardboard collection box from in front of his store.

“I was surprised,” Wiess said. “My daughter had been telling me to take it in, but I've always left it out and nothing has happened. I thought better of people.”

Weiss said he has been collecting toys for the program in front of his shop for 20 years.

“It's a Cheese Shop tradition,” said.

After word of the theft spread, however, Weiss said that many came to the Cheese Shop to right the wrong and filled the collection box right up.

Representatives form the Marine Corps came to the shop on Sunday and weren't disappointed.

“So in some way, some good came out of it,” Weiss said.
