Black & White Gala set for October 20

Next weekend, on Oct. 20, the Chestnut Hill Community Association and Chestnut Hill Community Fund, together with Chestnut Hill Hospital, will present the Black & White Gala. Under a large festival tent on the grounds of the hospital’s new wing, a wonderful celebration will take place!

This year’s theme is “Masquerade,”and guests are encouraged to don a festive mask for an evening of cocktails, dancing and a silent auction.

“If you don’t bring a mask, don’t worry,” said co-chair Jane Piotrowski, “we’ll have one for you!”

Along with masks, it seems that Piotrowski and her co-chairs Marianne Dwyer and Susan Bray have thought of everything. One hundred small black pouches are tagged and labeled with pretty black and white designs for the Randolph’s Jewelry’s Champagne Raffle – each $25 entry receives a glass of champagne, and a cubic zirconia. The lucky pouch will include a beautiful diamond necklace.

Luminaries will light the way on the hospital grounds, where the sounds of Paula Johns and the John Clark Big Band will keep guests moving on the dance floor. A longtime supporter of CHCA, the hospital is hosting the gala on the same day it is sponsoring Community Day, where all are invited for food, games, a magic show, a health fair and tours of the new emergency room, operating rooms and intensive care unit. Hospital CEO John D. Cacciamani Jr. considers supporting the gala “an extension of what our mission and vision is – being part of this community.”

During the party, guests will fight over the silent auction packages, which appeal to all ages and interests. Fabulous artwork, including Chestnut Hill Gallery’s Bill Roberts watercolor featuring a local scene, a gorgeous handbag and complimentary jewelry from Earth, a stunning Nepalese rug from Maloumian Oriental Rugs, a night in the Chestnut Hill College Observatory and great sports and spa packages.

Host Interiors donated a gorgeous Ottoman, Patricia Marion Cove offers “Designer for the Day” where she will escort the winner to Designer Marketplace, and Bradford Portraits is auctioning a $5,000 hand-painted portrait. Vacation homes up for auction are located in Avalon, Cape Cod, Costa Rica, Tuscany, Maryland shore and Belle Ile, France.
