Crime Report: Two disputes lead to aggravated assault

The following crimes are from the week of August 26 to September 1.

Aug. 26. 7800 block Winston Road. A car owner states that between 8 p.m. on August 25 and 6 a.m. on August 26, someone smashed the driver's side window of a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser and stole an Apple iPod.

Aug. 26. 100 block W. Springfield Ave. A car owner states that someone broke the driver's side window of a 2009 Volkswagon and stole a black carry-on bag, one green wallet with a Legacy debit card, one red wallet containing passport, one camera and an iPhone.

Aug. 27. 8400 block Seminole Street. Handyman called police to investigate broken back door window. The homeowner states that the following items were taken: one Nikon digital camera, 80” Samsung, 46” Samsung and 32”Samsung television sets.

Aug. 27. 7700 block Crittenden Street. An employee observed someone trying to leave store with six cans of Gerber Formula K and one can of peanuts.

Aug. 28. 7600 block Germantown Ave. A complainant states that he had a verbal altercation with another man over “relationship issues.” The other man then grabbed the complainant, injuring his shoulder and arm. He then struck the complainant in the head with a blackjack. Complainant was transferred to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Aug. 29. 8800 block Germantown Ave. A woman reported that someone took items from the bag she carries to work. Taken was a floral change purse, driver's license and a Freedom Federal credit card.

Aug. 28. 8300 block Stenton Ave. Complainant states she had a verbal altercation with offender over living arrangements. Offender became irate, came to driver's side window of complainant's vehicle and pulled her out of her car. Complainant states the offender then took out a black handgun and fired a shot into the air. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Reported at 6:35 p.m.

Aug. 30. Unit block Norman Lane. Complainant states that between 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, someone broke into a vehicle and took car keys from inside the center console.

Aug. 31. 8900 block Crefeld Street. Between 3 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 10:20 a.m. on Aug. 31, someone broke a kitchen window, entered a home and ransacked some bedrooms, stealing a gold bracelet with initials “VF” engraved, a number of half-dollar coins and $1 bills in two piggy banks.

Aug. 31. 8800 block Germantown Ave. Someone stole a woman's purse containing two Visa cards.

Summary – 10 crimes for week: two aggravated assaults, two burglaries, one retail theft, one other theft and four thefts from vehicles.
