Crime Report: Sovereign Bank robber arrested and a man assaults another in hospital driveway

The following crimes are from the week of August 19 to August 25, 2012.

Aug. 20. 7700 block Crittenden Street. Between 10:30 and 11:45 p.m., Someone used a key to gain entry through the front door of a home. The person then disarmed the alarm system, walked back to front door and locked it. When the homeowners returned they found the rear door had been left open and noticed that money was missing.

Aug. 20. Sovereign Bank 8623 Germantown Ave. A man walked into bank and gave teller a demand note, “Give me your money, I have a gun.” Offender took money and fled in a red Ford Windstar, Pennsylvania tag HYB-0417 which had been parked. Vehicle was at Ardleigh and Highland aves. Police reported later that the a suspect was arrested in Abington.

Aug. 22. 400 block W. Mermaid Lane. A woman states that after a shopping trip, she noticed her PNC debit card and TJ Maxx credit card were missing. Charges were made using both cards.

Aug. 22. 7 Valley Green Road. Between 11:55 a.m. and 1:55 p.m., someone broke the right rear window of a vehicle and stole a Dell Inspiron laptop, a phone, a cellular Verizon wireless, one army bag and one text book.

Aug. 22. 8400 block Prospect Ave. Between 7 a.m. on Aug. 17 and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 22, someone forced open a bathroom window next to the master bedroom. Office closets were ransacked with the following items taken: one white gold wedding ring with three diamonds surrounded by small diamonds, diamond aquamarine earrings, gold necklace and diamond bracelet set, pearl necklace, Lagos sterling silver, a silver and sterling gold earrings and gold nugget earrings.

Aug. 23. 8100 block Germantown Ave. A man states he parked vehicle and when he returned he found scratch marks on door and window. When he opened his car, he fopund several items missing including a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, one black iPod and a Magellan GPS and charger. Reported at 9:45 p.m.

Aug. 23. 8200 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that an unknown person broke two passenger side windows of her 2007 Mercedes and stole registration card.

Aug. 23. Unit block E. Abington Ave. Complainant states she found someone had smashed the driver's side window her black 2010 Ford Escape and stole change from the center console.

Aug. 23. 200 block W. Highland Ave. Between 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 17 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 18, an unknown person stole a Verizon Droid, two cell phones, assorted items and change.

Aug. 23. 8200 block Germantown Ave. A man states he parked his 2012 Chevy at this location and someone stole a GPS, a class ring and a Timex watch from his vehicle. Reported at 10:30 p.m.

Aug. 25. 8500 block Germantown Ave. Complainant was pulling into Chestnut Hill Hospital driveway and stopped to read a sign. A man in a car behind him started beeping his horn. Complainant gave the man the finger and the man exited his vehicle and punched complainant through his open car window. Complainant identified himself as a police officer and defendant said, “I don't care,” and continued to punch complainant while he was on phone talking to 911. The assailant was arrested.

Summary – Eleven crimes for week: one robbery, one aggravated assault, two burglaries, six thefts from vehicles and one theft.
