My name was Robert Eugene Innes. I left this earth on April 4, 2012 at the ripe old age of eighty-four. My mother, Dorothy, called me Bobby Gene. I thoroughly disliked that name. I was born in Fresno, California in 1927; shortly thereafter the family moved to Chowchilla, California, where I was raised. My folks had a dairy farm. Yes, I was elected to milk the cows and guide the crop dusters in where my pulmonary problems probably took root. Chopped lots of hay too! I attended Cal Polytech followed by the University of California at Berkeley, in preparation for my entrance to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. I graduated with the class of 1951, ranked Lieutenant Commander and Squad Leader, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During that time I was introduced to Nancy Hendler of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We married in 1951, shortly after graduation.  My call to our Country was served as Submarine Supply and Disbursing Officer on the 887.2'  Battleship Missouri where patrols took us to Lisbon, Trieste and parts of Spain. Upon returning to Philadelphia, I worked as a Manufacturer's Representative in the commercial air-handling field, eventually purchasing the organization for which I worked, Mutimer Company, running the business until my retirement. After the death of my wife Nancy in 2003. I married the woman I've spent seven wonderful years with, Sandi Polillo. Together we made our decision to leave Philadelphia and enjoy life in the desert arriving in June,2010. Unfortunately, by March, my health declined. Frankly, my body was simply worn out! Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease will do that to you. I'm survived by my wife Sandi L. Innes, my sons David (Karen), Robert (Patty), daughter Jane McGill all of Pennsylvania, a sister Shirley Hurst (Woody) of Hayden, Idaho, Sandi's daughter L. Sloane Winkes, M.D. (Ben Winkes, M.D.) of Mt. Vernon, Washington, eight grandchildren and preceded in death by her son Kyle J. Polillo. Memorial service was privately held and officiated by Dr. Wesley Avram and Father Kevin Sullivan, with interment at the Memorial Garden at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, Scottsdale, Arizona. Contributions in Bob's memory can be made to Pinnacle Presbyterian Church or the Geriatric Fellowship Program at the Mayo Clinic Arizona.
