What does a group of typical teenagers from the Chestnut Hill area and a third world family with no home and few provisions have in common? The answer: 10 days in July.  For the fourth year Teenagers Inc. will make a service trip to Guatemala to try and ease the life conditions of children and families in and around Antigua, Guatemala.

What sort of support will they provide?  They will construct a small house from the ground up, they will work with the children at Casa Jackson Malnourished Children’s Center, they will carry suitcases full of clothes and supplies for the children and families, and will work at the Albergue Santa Madre Homeless Shelter.

How can you be a part of this service trip?  Come out to an Earth Day Flea Market on April 14,  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  at the Water Tower Recreation Center, Ardleigh Street and Southampton Avenue in Chestnut Hill.  Come join a great big “backyard” gathering to sell your household items (reserve your spot for only $30) or come check out what your neighbors have to sell.

One person’s “trash” is another’s treasure! This day is part of 2012 Philly Cares Day and the Water Tower Advisory Council and Teenagers Inc. are organizing to rake, spruce-up and recycle in our community. Gloves, rakes and bags will be provided by the council. Refreshments will be for sale. We just need you to help!

So whether it is supporting near neighbors in this area, or far neighbors across the globe – everyone can make a difference.  Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part.  Contact Teens Inc.  at 215-242-4976 or email director@teensincphilly.org to reserve your spot now.
