It’s hard to imagine summer in Chestnut Hill without the Chestnut Hill Community Association's annual series of concerts in Pastorius Park. Thanks to Chestnut Hill Hospital's recent $10,000 donation to the Chestnut Hill Community Fund's annual fund drive, the concert's fans won't have to.

The fund drive also raises money for local organizations, such as Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels and Buckley Park.

“The hospital has been a member of this community forever, and it is really important to support things like the artistic efforts and the concert series everyone loves,” said Dr. Russell Breish, president of the medical staff at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

The Chestnut Hill Community Fund's goal is to raise $100,000 every year, and so far the fund has raised about $90,000, said Dr. Susan Bray, co-chair of this year’s fund drive, noting that donations are still being accepted until the end of March.

They are wonderful and diverse,” Bray said.  “They are part of Chestnut Hill summer.”

“Its not summer without it,” said Jane Piotrowski, president of the Chestnut Hill Community Association. “The Chestnut Hill Community Association has been hosting the concerts for over 60 years, with the help of many volunteers from our community and the board. It is a great evening in the open summer air where folks can enjoy a variety of performers.”

Contributions to the Chestnut Hill Community Fund can be sent to the CHCA at 8434 Germantown Ave., Attn: Noreen Spota. Checks should be made payable to the "CHCF," Chestnut Hill Community Association, or donors can call the Chestnut Hill Community Association at 215-248-8810.
