For the 5th year in a row, Chestnut Hill Hospital has made a $10,000 donation to the Chestnut Hill Community Fund's Annual Fund Drive. The fund drive raises money every year and distributes all funds raised to a number of local organizations in the form of grants.
Those grants have funded numerous organizations including Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels and Buckley Park.
“Support of these programs is the life blood of the community” said Chief of Medicine, John Scanlon of the donation.
Chief Nursing Officer Teresa Kelly agreed.
“It ties in with the hospital's mission,” she said. “Support of the community fund is a large part of that.”
Fund trustee Tolis Vardakis said the support for the fund is very important.
“It's huge,” he said. “To have this size a donation every year is big.”
The hospital has also given an additional $10,000 to support the annual Pastorius Park Concert Series, which is organized and run by the chestnut Hill Community Association. The $20,000 donation has accounted for approximately 20 percent of the $100,000 fund drive goal each of the five years it has made the gift.
The Chestnut Hill Community Fund is currently accepting donations through March 31. donors can call the Chestnut Hill Community Association at 215-248-8810 for more information on how to donate.
