Congratulations ~ a word all know how to spell!  Over the past several weeks Norwood-Fontbonne Academy students have been spelling their way to success with competitions held at all grade levels.  Winners in the lower grades are:

Grade 1: Marin Higgins

Grade 2: Katie Convey

Grade 3: Clare Gimpel

Grade 4: Dariya Brann

Junior Level Montessori 1: Kevin Doerzbacher

Junior Level Montessori 2: Owen Valinis

Junior Level Montessori 3: Lauren Slovensky

On Thursday, February 2, our 5th through 8th grade finalists competed to see who would advance and represent the school at the Philadelphia Tribune Regional Bee to be held on March 10th.  Our finalists were:

5th grade:  Phillip Allen, Jack Brown, William Lot, Laney Volpe, Aydin McPhilemy, and Richard Veon

6th grade: Will Adler, Julia Flynn, Bishop Fletcher, Carson Stephenson, Abby Schwenger, and Thomas Woolley

7th grade: Elena Christen, Lily Gannon, Sarah Hill, Orin Brann, Juelle Love, and Cole Storm

8th grade:  Brenan Eck, Michael Schwenger, Bidley Jean-Baptiste, Luke Forrence, Andrew Maloney, and Eliza Ewing

 

Fifth grader, Richard Veon (William Lot is the alternate) will represent Norwood-Fontbonne Academy in the Philadelphia Tribune 5th Grade Bee on March 10th at the School of the Future.  If he wins the 5th grade bee, he will be able to compete alongside the 6th, 7th, & 8th graders later that same day.

Sixth grader, Abby Schwenger, won the 5th-8th grade spelling bee and has the honor of representing her school on March 1oth at the Regional Spelling Bee.  If she wins she will travel to Washington, D.C. for the National Scripps Spelling Bee which will be televised on ESPN.  Abby has already won a free year subscription to Britannica Online Student Edition and a certificate to take a language course of her choice online provided by Powerspeak.com.  If Abby is unable to compete, Eliza Ewing, NFA 8th grader, will take her place in the competition.
