Harry P. Millinghausen, 82, formerly of Chestnut Hill, who operated his family’s newspaper delivery business for more than two decades, died Jan. 15 at the home of his son Paul in Blue Bell.

Harry P. Millinghausen, 82, formerly of Chestnut Hill, who operated his family’s newspaper delivery business for more than two decades, died Jan. 15 at the home of his son Paul in Blue Bell.

He had been living at Masonic Village in Lafayette Hill since 2007.

Mr. Millinghausen took over the newspaper delivery business in the 1950s from his father who had purchased it in 1908. From then until he sold the business in 1978, Mr. Millinghausen delivered Philadelphia and New York newspapers, the Wall Street Journal and foreign language publications to several hundred customers in Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, Wyndmoor and Erdenheim.

A founder and life member of the Wissahickon Skating Club, he was active in many sports and was an avid hockey player until age 60.

Born Germantown, he was a graduate of Germantown High School.

He was a member of Masonic Fritz Lodge #308 in Conshohocken and Messiah United Methodist Church in Lafayette Hill.

In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife, the former Mary Evans; daughters Carol Millinghausen, of Abington, and Donna Koenig, of Dresher; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Lownes Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill. Friends may call from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
