We just got an e-mail moments ago informing us that Lincoln Drive will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. tomorrow for road repair and maintenance. Igf you're planning a trip downtown tomorrow, you should steer clear of Lincoln Drive.
From the release: Southbound Lincoln Drive traffic will be blocked at Wissahickon Drive. A marked detour will carry traffic to the end of Lincoln Drive at Ridge Avenue, by way of Walnut Lane. • Northbound traffic will be blocked at all entrances to the south end of Lincoln Drive. No detour is provided for northbound traffic due to the numerous entrances. Suggested detours are Walnut Lane or Schoolhouse Lane.
The temporary closure will allow City employees from a number of Departments to safely work on guide rail repairs, inlet cleaning, pothole repairs, tree cutting/pruning, and other maintenance work to the roadway and adjacent facilities. Due to the volume of workers and equipment pedestrian and bicycle traffic are prohibited during this closure. This work has been scheduled for weekend hours in order to expedite repairs and minimize disruption to motorists. Police Department assistance will be on site to help maintain a safe traffic flow in the area.
All work will be completed and traffic will be restored by 5:00 p.m. For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, residents, and businesses. The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
