This note came to us from Green Tree Community Health Foundation. They hope readers and donors will get the message out that a key fundraiser has been disastrously disrupted by the U.S. Post Office.
Green Tree Community Health Foundation, the public charity located in Chestnut Hill that supports and provides funding to many local non-profits, depends on its Annual Appeal to raise funds for grant making. One hundred percent of all funds raised support local charities, including the Center for Enrichment, Meals on Wheels, Keystone Hospice, Cradles to Crayons, MANNA, Center in the Park . . . to name just a few.
But this year it has a major problem. After it did its major Annual Appeal mailing in October, the Foundation was distressed to see almost no return. But then its Executive Director, Susan Hansen, began receiving phone calls from donors asking why their checks had not been cashed. Concerned, she called the U.S. Post Office at Market Square and learned to her horror that, through a postal service bureaucratic mishap, envelopes with checks enclosed were being returned to sender, stamped “Not A Valid Address.”
Hansen wants all to know that Green Tree’s address, which is 6 E. Willow Grove Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118, is indeed a valid address. If any donors get their checks returned, she hopes they will be re-sent, and, if any checks are not cashed, she asks if donors will call the foundation to see if they have been received.
Green Tree’s phone number is 215-438-8102.
