The Reverend Margie J. Mayson died unexpectedly while returning with her daughter from a trip to Portland, Oregon on November 8, 2011. At the time of her death Reverend Mayson was currently serving as Senior Pastor at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ithaca, New York. Beloved pastor to thousands throughout her life, she had previously served six other parishes including churches in Rochester, the New York Finger Lakes region, Syracuse and eastern Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University Divinity School. Her husband, Dr. H. Wesley Perkins, daughters Jessica Mayson Perkins and Kiah Mayson Perkins, sister Dorothy Mayson, mother Jean Mayson, sisters-in-law Dr. Veronica Gabriel and Rhoda Perkins Boyer, brothers-in-law Dr. Jonathan Somers and Joe Boyer, nieces Sandy and Sarah Jo Mayson and Rebecca Somers, and nephews Jed and Ben Somers, along with many other dear family members and friends all mourn her passing. A memorial service celebrating her life and ministry was held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 402 North Aurora Street, Ithaca, New York.
