Kathlyn S. Zucker, 91, formerly of Chestnut Hill, a pianist and organist, died of respiratory failure Oct. 28 at Cathedral Village where she had been a resident since 1992.

Mrs. Zucker, who served on the advisory board of Settlement Music School, was widely known for her piano four hands and piano duo performances.

She also was an active volunteer and board member of the Settlement Music School in Germantown and had sung with the Mastersingers of Whitemarsh before the community chorus moved to Paoli.

For many years she tutored children at Shawmont Elementary School.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Conn., she attended Central High School in Bridgeport and received a bachelor’s degree from the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina and a master’s in music from Teachers College at Columbia University.

During World War II she worked in the engineering department Chance Vought Aircraft in Stratford, Conn.

Mrs. Zucker is survived by sons Peter B., of Duvall, Wash., and Jeremy M., of Seattle, Wash., and David L. of Evergreen, Colo.; a daughter, Alison B. Broadbent, of Nyack, N.Y., and four grandchildren. Mrs. Zucker’s husband, M. William Zucker, died in 2006.

A celebration of Mrs. Zucker’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Presser Lounge of Cathedral Village, 600 E. Cathedral Rd., in the Andorra section of  Philadelphia.
