Anthony J. “Tony” D’Lauro Jr., 80, formerly of Chestnut Hill, a retired marketing executive and a co-owner of DiNardo’s Famous Seafood restaurant in the Old City section of Philadelphia, died Sept. 14 at Physicians Regional Hospital in Naples, Fla., where he had been living for the past seven years.

Mr. D’Lauro, who also had lived in Blue Bell and Erdenheim, operated his own marketing and consulting firm, the D’Lauro Agency, until the 1980s. Earlier he had been president and CEO of Rollins Auto Leasing Corp. and Rollins Communications Inc.

He started his marketing career as director of advertising for Acme Markets. He later served as vice president of public relations for Matlack Inc., and after Matlack merged with Rollins International of Wilmington, Del., he was named vice president of marketing and, eventually group vice president with responsibilities for the firm’s 12 subsidiaries.

Mr. D’Lauro opened the restaurant in retirement.

Raised in Chestnut Hill, he attended Our Mother of Consolation School, the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism and Villanova University.

He had served in the Navy and in the Naval Reserves at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station.

He was a member of the National Restaurant Association, the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association and the Public Relations Society of America.

He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Order of the Sons of Italy of America, serving as a national trustee of that organization. He was a trustee of Roman Catholic High School and was a co-chair of the school’s new building fund campaign.

An avid golfer, he was a member of Radley Run, Sandy Run, Blue Bell and Naples Heritage country clubs. He was a volunteer at Naples Community Hospital and was an usher at St. Elizabeth Seaton Church in Naples.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Kathryn Strunk and Jane Di Nola; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Fogel; a sister, Frances McKinney; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mr. D’Lauro’s first wife of 46 years, Peggy; a daughter, Carol Ann; a brother, Felix D’Lauro; sisters Rae Arena and Grace, and a grandson preceded him in death.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118. Relatives and friends may call at the church at 11 a.m.
