Back-to-back gunpoint robberies have Hillers on notice after the Shell gas station, at 8024 Germantown Ave., and a 19-year-old male were both held up in the same week.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 14, two men approached the Hill resident on East Hartwell Lane. One of the men pointed a gun at him and took an iPhone, wallet and Droid phone.
According to police, a suspect in the robbery, Rafiq Green, 19, of the 800 block of East Church Lane, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. in the 7500 block of Stenton Avenue. The second suspect, described as 5’4”, dressed all in black, has not been arrested.
The Shell station was robbed two days later, on Saturday, July 16. The gunman made off with $1,500, according to police.
Police said the two gunpoint robberies do not appear to be related.
Capt. Joel Dales Jr., of the 14th District, said the robberies do not imply an uptick in crime in Chestnut Hill. Overall gunpoint robberies are up 4 percent in the 14th District from the same time last year. Dales also noted that arrests for gunpoint robberies are up 87 percent overall as well.
