Talbots closing “part of plan”

One more Chestnut Hill storefront has lost its tenant: Hillers noticed on Friday, June 24 that the Germantown Avenue Talbots had suddenly closed. The store offered little advance warning, and its sudden closure took local shoppers by surprise.

Talbots representative Julie Lorigan, in an e-mail today, said that the closing was part of the company’s "previously announced plans to reduce Talbots store base and square footage."

The building next door, formerly leased to clothing retailer Express, will soon hold the Iron Hill Brewery. Acadia Realty owns the two properties and may be leasing them both to the Brewery. Representatives from Acadia have not yet responded to the Local.
