Eighth district city council candidate Robin Tasco, in an interview with G-Town Radio's Ed Feldman Tuesday, said she received a threat from a campaign worker of Cindy Bass to drop out of the race. Her comments have caused a bit of  a stir in the race. Tasco told Feldman that she received a phone call Sunday from Steve Vaughn, a former chief of staff for Donna Reed Miller and former board member of Germantown Settlement, who pled guilty to corruption in 2005. Vaughn stated that he was a part of Bass’s campaign, according to Tasco on the station’s Morning Feed program. The next day, Tasco and her husband met with Vaughn at Chili’s on Ogontz and Cheltenham, according to Tasco’s husband, who accompanied her on G-Town Radio. Vaughn said he would bring charges of insurance fraud against Tasco if she did not drop out of the race. Tasco denied the basis for such claims on the program, and said she did not respond to Vaughn’srequest that she give him a decision the next day. A representative from Bass’s campaign told the Local today that the contact between Tasco and Vaughn is a “distraction,” and that Bass wants to focus on the issues pertaining to the election. Tasco did not immediately return request for comment. Hear Tasco's interview with Ed Feldman here. Tasco's comments about Vaughn are approximately 9 minutes in.
