The following crimes are from the week of March 20 to March 26, 2011

March 22. Unit block E. Willow Grove Avenue. Between 6 and 9 p.m., an unknown person broke the passenger side window of a car and stole a duffle bag containing a Sicomic light meter, Pocket Wizard, Cannon 50 Mark III camera, 100 mm 8 lens, 85 mm lens, 50 mm 1.8 lens, 24-90 mm lens and a 580 EX flash.

March 22. 7800 block Winston Road. Police were conducting surveillance for auto theft from vehicles and saw a male open the door to a black 2011 BMW, entering it for several seconds. Male left vehicle carrying a black gym bag and fled westbound on Springfield Avenue. Taken was an Apple iPod. Matthew Johnson was arrested and taken to NWDD. Occurred at 8:30 p.m.

March 22. 7700 block Germantown Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown person broke the passenger side window of a silver 2008 Jeep Liberty and stole a purse containing military identification, gun permit, bank card, inhaler, one pair of earrings, and a tennis bracelet. Reported at 8:50 p.m.

March 22. Unit block E. Springfield Avenue. Between 7:45 and 8:15 p.m., an unknown person stole two bags from a 2005 Acura, one black bag that contained a pink Nano iPod and swimming equipment. Male was stopped at Germantown and Duval Street. Had black bag containing stolen property.

March 23. 400 block W. Willow Grove Avenue. Complainant states that between 1 and 6 a.m., an unknown person forced open a platform door to tennis club. Nothing seemed to be missing.

March 23. Valley Green Road. Complainant states that he was jogging in park when he was approached from behind by two unknown males. One male shoved an unknown object into his lower back and demanded money. Complainant told them he didn’t have any money. They escorted him to an older gray model vehicle and then drove him around for an hour before dropping him off in the unit block of W. School House Lane. Reported at 8 p.m.

March 24. Unit block Abington Avenue. Complainant states she left her vehicle running with keys inside and it was stolen. Police observed vehicle going southbound on Lincoln Drive. As police approached the vehicle, the offender jumped out and ran to rear of a property on Greene Street. K-9 unit was called and offender was captured and vehicle recovered.

March 25. 200 block W. Evergreen Avenue. Complainant states that on March 21, an unknown person stole a Milwaukee inspection camera, Black & Decker router, MIG welder and a hole saw. Reported at 2 p.m.

March 25. Germantown Avenue. and Bells Mill Road. An unknown person stole a Chestnut Hill College sign from this location. Reported at 1 a.m.

March 25. 8300 block St. Martin’s Lane. Police responded to radio call and found window ajar in the carriage house in rear of property. They also found door on second floor was kicked in. It is unknown if anything was taken.

March 26. 400 block W. Moreland Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown male offender gained entry to two vehicles: a 2004 Chevy Suburban and a 2011 Mercedes Benz. Taken were two pair of sunglasses, Talbot’s t-shirts and an orange colored Hermes bag. Reported at 4:38 a.m.

March 26. 7900 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that an unknown customer was inside store and asked about item that was outside store on mannequin. Complainant sent to rear of store to get item and when she returned, customer and item outside were gone.

Summary — Twelve crimes for week: one robbery, three burglaries, one stolen vehicle, three thefts and four thefts from vehicles.
