Feb. 27. 400 block W. Chestnut Hill Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown person broke the driver’s side window of a 2005 Toyota Prius and stole money. Reported at 9:30 p.m.

Feb. 27. 100 block W. Springfield Avenue. Between 10 p.m. on Feb. 26 and 1 a.m. on Feb. 27, an unknown person broke the driver’s side rear window of a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and ransacked interior.

Feb. 27. 100 block W. Mermaid Lane. Complainant states that an unknown person broke the driver’s side widow of a black 2009 VW Jetta and stole a Garmin global positioning system. Reported at 2 p.m.

March 2. 300 block E. Willow Grove Avenue. Complainant heard noises outside of window and saw a black male cutting screen window with box cutters. Complainant called police with his cell phone. Offender fled and was apprehended in the 7900 block of Crittenden Street. Reported at 4:44 a.m.

March 3. 100 block W. Evergreen Avenue. Police observed two black males attempting to gain entry to shipping container located at the Chestnut Hill West Train Station. Police observed one male walking from container with a red handle bolt cutter. There was some damage to container. The two males do not work for SEPTA. Occurred at 12:40 a.m.

March 4. 7700 block Crittenden Street. Complainant states that an unknown person entered his unlocked red 2004 GMC Yukon and stolen an Apple iPad. Reported at 4 p.m.

March 5. 7700 block Germantown Avenue. Complainant states that at 2 p.m., an unknown person broke the front passenger side window to a 2006 Hyundai and stole a green purse and an Nintendo DS.

March 5. 8100 block Shawnee Street. Between 2:40 and 8 p.m., an unknown person broke the back door by kicking it in and stole a gold chain.

Summary — Eight crimes for week: three burglaries and five thefts from vehicles.
