The following crimes are from the week of Jan. 23 to Jan. 29, 2011.

Jan. 23. 7700 block Germantown Avenue. Witness called police to report black male acting suspicious in front of store with a large amount of batteries. After police arrived they found batteries had come from another store located next door. Offender was arrested. Male, 50 years old, residing on E. Durand Street. Reported at 12:31 p.m.

Jan. 29. 8300 block Germantown Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown person broke the driver’s side rear window to a 2010 white Jetta Volkswagen and stole a backpack and college books.

Jan. 29. 8300 block Germantown Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown person broke the front driver’s side window to a 2005  Volvo and stole a MAC Pro computer, charger and wallet containing credit cards, a Pennsylvania driver’s license, make-up and money.

Jan. 29.  8200 block Germantown Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown person broke the passenger side window of a 2010 Hyundai. Vehicle was ransacked but nothing was taken.

Summary — Four crimes for week: one theft and three thefts from vehicles.

Keep doors and windows locked to home and vehicles.
