Teenagers Inc. hosted its annual fundraiser, Taste of Chestnut Hill on Sunday Nov. 14 in the dining room of Springside School. The event, featuring a generous selection of food and auction items donated by local businesses netted the group at least $4,000 for its general operation.

Teenagers Inc. director Marianne Dwyer said the participation of local businesses was “incredible.”  But she had hoped for more community participation.

“There could have been more people from the neighborhood out,” she said. “We sold fewer tickets than last year and had food leftover, but we donated the extra food to a women’s shelter.”

Still, Dwyer was pleased with the annual event. Not only did businesses lend support, but 40 parents and Teen members helped out the even together.

In addition to the auction and good food, event attendees heard a presentation from Chris Mathews who runs the Guatemala chapter of God’s Child project, which members of Teenagers Inc have supported in to trips to Guatemala over the last three years.

Funds from the event will go to support the program, a 501c3 non-profit, which serves some 400 children in the area.
